| How ESI programs benefit children. |
|
Art commissioned for public display is a great investment for the community. It can also do wonderful things for an artist’s career and esteem. Just imagine what the experience can do for a child. Exposure to community action greatly broadens a child’s perspective on life as a citizen of the community and of the planet. ESI Pubic Arts programs simultaneously educate children about the arts, community involvement, and the environment. ESI student artists feel more empowered to engage in social and environmental issues. They have seen the benefits of collaboration and of taking positive action. Participants are more likely to feel that they can make a difference and therefore are more likely to take part in the betterment of their communities, rather than in destructive pursuits such as graffiti. ESI Public Arts programs are more than just community beautification projects. They are aimed at better preparing children to cope with the issues that they will face through community collaboration. |
